Introducing - Fred (Mr Reluctant)

Before I get started I wanted there to be some honesty between us, it's important in any relationship.

So let me get one thing straight from the start, I was dragged kicking and screaming to this game system by the foul verbal assaults of Craig and the perpetual sniping of Rich.

I fought back the best way I new how, by taking the piss out of thin guns and even thinner models. True scale, who wants that when you can have steroid induced 30mm 'heroic' scale figures with much larger guns!

Nevertheless, against my better judgement and much to the chargrin of my Blood Angels (seen here chasing down an Intruder- "Oi, skinny lad, come 'ere") here I am.

Having spent a bit of time looking at the game, I am now intrigued. This probably stems from my long association of spending hard earned time and money on numerous noble causes that started with games like Adeptus Titanicus, Blood Bowl (1st Ed.), WFB (1st Ed.), WH40K (2nd ed.), all GW 3D roleplay games and nearly every game GW have ever released plus Warmachine, Battlefront, Full Thrust, Car Wars, Battletech, Dystopian wars, Firestorm Armada etc etc, the list goes on and gets obscure - Gammarauders anyone?

In short I've been playing Wargames a long time and my wife has still not beaten the habit out of me yet, despite numerous attempts!

I have yet to have my first game of Infinity but anything with any degree of tactical edge is appealing to me, more so if anything in it can be painted red, you'll learn that soon enough!

Finally, I am not a great painter, never have been, never will be, where others take hours, minutes will do me just fine, colour schemes, why yes we do all the colours as long as they're RED (as in this Brigada model)!

Which makes this Blog even more fun as you'll find humour in my average attempts at getting something painted, however I consider it a rallying cry to all the mediocre painters out there, grab your 2" brush and lets slap some colour on this biatch!

Anyway having escaped the wrath of the Blood Angels, this guy gets hit with the fence brush in February (I believe it is an intruder with an HMG):

Hmm, now for the colour choice......

Introducing Tellos

.......... Thank you Rich!!!!!!

Right let's not beat around the bush here, I'm no literary genius so please don't expect much from me in the way of text. I will do my best to make up for the lack of anything meaningful in writing by providing some nice pictures of hopefully some nice models and their paint jobs.

I guess I should follow Richs lead and introduce myself first. My names Craig and I have a problem with my attention span!! I'm hoping this blog will serve as a good aid to channel my energy and actually make me finish a project for a change! Don't hold your breath everyone!

My background in gaming is pretty standard really, I started with GW and progressed to other systems, the list is long and distinguished (just like Dave's Johnson)!!!!

In recent years I have been very fortunate to be in a position to be able to commission people to paint my models. THIS HAS TO STOP.

So I find myself committed to this blog now and with Rich on my back hounding for progress shots monthly I hold out medium hopes of actually completing this hobby project!

So here we go with January's entry's.......

The Beginning - StokieRich Intro

In the beginning was the plan...

The plan came about one evening after a gaming night at a local club when Craig was reminiscing about the old tale of 4 gamers articles and proposed the idea that we do something similar to build our infinity forces, plotting our progress each month and posting updates online for the consumption of anyone who's interested (i.e. us)

I was kindly "volunteered" to look after setting up the tech side of things, while people would regularly send me content to post up with their masterpieces and any commentary they'd like to add.

The idea then is to paint one figure a month with before/after pictures to get our Infinity forces to 150pts fully painted by July and then potentially carry on from there.

3 of us will also be painting a piece of scenery a month as well to try and complete our gaming boards.

So to kick things off I'll introduce myself and then hand you over to Craig:

Boring Background Bit :

My name's Richard and I've been in the hobby since I was 12, having been introduced by my dad who, clearly fed up with his son moaning about waiting in the queue at the Nationwide Building Society in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, dragged his son over to the Games Workshop across the road to gaze longingly through the glass at the figures.

My dad tried to convince me to get the fantasy boxed set for Christmas that year but I wanted the shiny marines in the 2nd ed 40k box so went for that and I was hooked from there.

Nowadays I'm playing far too many game systems as my lack of attention span kicks in and I get easily led into new systems by the evil duo of CRAIGDAVE. Currently the list (probably missing some) stands at:

Fantasy: Ogre Kingdoms
40k: Dark Eldar / Tyranids
WarmaHordes: Circle Orboros
XWing: Everyfrickingthing
Infinity: Haqqislam / Nomads
Flames of War: Late British
Deadzone: Everything

-----------------

For this blog I was initially planning on starting to get some paint on my Nomads but I've instead decided to concentrate on my Haqqislam and more specifically, the Qapu Khalpi sectorial. I already have the contents of the starter box, plus a Djanbazan Sniper and 2 Halqa painted so I figure I should concentrate on that for the next 6 months.

So here's my initial offerings for Feb, apologies for the poor pics, end of month pics will be taken with a proper camera:
